This is a Grade 8 Design unit where students create a “passive wooden speaker” for their cell phones. They are introduced to many new tools and processes. This includes Computer Aided Design (CAD), using more advanced power tools such as the drill press, Dremel tools, chisels, belt sanders, and Hole saws. They are also introduced to surface finishing for wood: staining and lacquer.
